Project Installations Intern

Installations – Atlanta, Georgia

Employment Type Intern
Minimum Experience Entry-level

We are no longer accepting applications for our 2019 Summer Internship. Thank you for your consideration.

We’re Apogee. Nice to meet you. At our core, we’re a student services organization that happens to focus on IT. We touch the lives of binge-watching, music-loving, game-playing, finals-taking, seminar-attending, class-selecting students by providing IT infrastructure that meets the needs of today’s technology-savvy generation.

We work hard, celebrate success and challenge everyone in our organization to be a problem solver. If you are as passionate as we are about the intersection of technology and education, join us today.

Each summer we deploy and install a tremendous amount of new networking and video equipment (access points, switches, routers, etc.).  This is where you come in. Alongside our installations and project management teams, you'll work to help us meet our schedules and deadlines.

While you'll learn a lot, this is not a desk job. Heck, you won't even have a desk. Rather you'll work in our configuration room, and onsite at client properties installing network infrastructure.

If you're looking to work hard this summer, and have an experiential internship, this may be the right opportunity for you. We will provide all the training and mentorship you'll need for this role.

Here’s your job:

  1. We install best in class residential networks (ResNet) at colleges and universities and you’re responsible for installing, configuring and testing our cable, access points, and switches.
  2. Label, route, and install cat5e/cat6 cabling systems in a new and existing environment.
  3. Perform equipment move, add, changes tasks as required.
  4. Ensure that systems are installed properly and on time in accordance with Apogee's procedures and quality control standards.
  5. Communicate with Managers and/or Project Manager to resolve discrepancies or issues.
  6. Provide accurate documentation of completed work.
  7. Responsible for providing proper documentation for inventory control and for maintaining proper inventory for projects.
  8. Attend construction meetings and perform site readiness assessments.
  9. Communicate with customers, customer representatives, contractors, and Apogee staff as necessary to install and test equipment.

What you bring to the table:

  • You're currently enrolled in a STEM program at a four-year university.
  • You're able to live in Austin, TX or Norcross, GA during the summer at your own expense.
  • You're looking for an internship experience that will also earn you a steady paycheck during the summer.
  • You're willing to travel (including weekends if necessary).

Here are the career fairs we'll attend this year.

  • Texas A&M University, January 23-24, 2019
  • Georgia Tech, January 30, 2019

  • Kennesaw State University, February 19, 2019
  • Texas State University, February 19, 2019

  • Term: May 28, 2019 to August 16, 2019
  • Rate: $13/hour + Paid Expenses + Overtime
  • Travel: up to 80%
